LOOKING FORWARD
Located at the foot of the renowned Poas Volcano, the fertile volcanic soil and rich biodiversity lay the foundations for some exceptional coffee agriculture.
The 100 hectare farm is planted with over 50 hectares of shaded coffee trees and 10 hectares of sugar cane with the remaining land covered in wild forest reserve.
Hacienda Sonora has been in the hands of Guardia family for over a century with operations currently headed by father and son, Alberto & Diego. Previously a sugar cane plantation, Alberto planted over 20 different coffee varieties across the farm back in the 1970s and they have since gone on to become the main source of income for the farm.
With a passion for sustainability, Alberto and Hacienda Sonora only produce Honey and Natural processed coffees - both yielding extremely complex flavour profiles and requiring considerably less water to process.
